50 hotels awarded with stars

Kaniber: “Tourism in Bavaria stands for diversity – this is also reflected in the large selection of hotels.” / Geppert: “The qualified companies make a significant contribution to maintaining what is probably the most beautiful industry in the world.”

(Munich) The Bavarian State Minister for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Tourism, Michaela Kaniber, and the State Director of the Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association DEHOGA Bayern, Dr. Thomas Geppert, awarded the coveted star classifications in Munich today. Kaniber: "Tourism in Bavaria stands for diversity - this is also reflected in the large selection of hotels. In every region of the Free State there is something to suit every taste and every budget. Anyone who goes on holiday in Bavaria can rely on the best quality. Bavaria stands for high-quality holidays and pure relaxation, also thanks to the outstanding service and class of our accommodation providers."

"The qualified companies make a significant contribution to the preservation of what is probably the most beautiful industry in the world and, in addition to the high legal requirements, they also undergo additional qualifications," says Geppert. "When it comes to classification, the award is a showcase for the company. The hotels thus guarantee a transparent overview of the services offered and offer a reliable quality compass for guests and employees who are guided by award-winning companies. I am proud of the companies - they set important standards for Bavarian tourism."

A total of 50 establishments were awarded in the hotel classification: 24 three stars and 23 four stars. Three establishments even met the criteria for five stars. Distributed across the administrative districts, 23 establishments were classified in Upper Bavaria, 3 in Swabia, 12 in Lower Bavaria, 5 in Upper Palatinate, 1 in Middle Franconia, 2 in Upper Franconia and 4 establishments in Lower Franconia.

The German hotel classification with five different categories - one to five stars - was developed and introduced in 1996 by the industry association DEHOGA under the initiative of Bavaria. There are different rating systems for hotels as well as for guest houses, inns and pensions. The stars awarded are valid for a period of three years. The ratings in the Free State are carried out by BTG Bayern Tourist GmbH, a subsidiary of the Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association DEHOGA Bayern. It carries out a comprehensive on-site inspection of all establishments to be classified.
