AUTENRIED. A record-breaking turnout in Autenried: Numerous visitors flocked to the grounds of the castle brewery for German Beer Day and the 10th annual classic car rally. With 636 registered vintage vehicles and a diverse supporting program, the "Autenried brewers" celebrated a festival of traditions.
Historical rarities and active support From 10:30 a.m. onwards, the brewery courtyard was transformed into an open-air museum. From gleaming motorcycles and special vintage cars to impressive tractors, the entire spectrum of automotive history was represented on the festival grounds and in the courtyard of the castle brewery. The hosts were once again supported by the "Friends of Old Vehicles" from Augsburg and the "Streetbunnycrew e.V.", who ensured smooth registration and briefing for the 636 participants.
Political tapping of the first keg and culinary diversity Following the traditional cannon salute by the marksmen from Landensberg/Glöttweng, the official tapping of the first keg of beer took place. Among those who took up the mallet, besides the Feuchtmayr family, were Mayor Robert Strobel, Members of Parliament Alexander Engelhard and Jenny Schack, Benedikt Meier-Bausewein – representative of the Association of Private Breweries of Bavaria, Matthias Hieber – head brewer of the Schlossbrauerei (Castle Brewery), and Jürgen Schuler – sales manager of the Schlossbrauerei.
A particular highlight was the "Mayor's Tapping," in which newly elected and re-elected mayors jointly kicked off the festival season.
Culinary delights left nothing to be desired: In addition to "Ochs am Spieß" (Mader butcher shop), specialties from Kühle butcher shop, Herzog dairy, Herbert Falk restaurant, and Hiebl's pasta factory were also on offer. Bischof butcher shop from Edelstetten and the Eintracht Autenried social club provided a sweet finale with Kaiserschmarrn and a wide selection of cakes.
Tradition meets entertainment The music clubs of Aletshausen, Frauenriedhausen, and Hausen, along with the Autenried hunting horn players and the "Vier-Drei-Blech-Musikanten" brass band, provided musical accompaniment throughout the day. While adults could win fantastic prizes by guessing the number of bottle caps, a scavenger hunt and a wheel of fortune delighted the younger guests. A photo booth was also available for capturing the perfect souvenir photo, and it proved very popular. Those wanting to delve deeper into the world of brewing could take part in brewery tours or chat with the beer sommelier team.
Managing directors Rudolf and Peter Feuchtmayr took the opportunity to thank clubs for their long-standing loyalty. The clubs' continued commitment to the brewery was underscored with the presentation of certificates and words of thanks on stage.
Furthermore, the special achievement of his team was highlighted: "It makes us proud how we stick together as a team to manage a festival of this magnitude," emphasizes Rudolf Feuchtmayr.
After an eventful day, the traditional closing ceremony was held around 7:00 p.m. With a final song performed together by the musicians, the Autenried brewers bid farewell to their guests, bringing an unforgettable festival to a close.
