The top-fermented brewery Uerige has been brewing excellent beers in the heart of Düsseldorf's old town since 1862. The UERIGE Alt is the most typical Altbier in Germany with its characteristic bitterness. Despite this (or precisely because of this), this legendary Düsseldorf Altbier, brewed from barley malt, caramel malt, roasted malt, cone hops, water - and our very special Uerige yeast, is so full-bodied and aromatic and is regularly voted among the ten best beers in Germany.
Beer
The top-fermented brewery Uerige is not a museum, but an extremely modern food company. A craft with a centuries-old tradition is practiced here. Of course, the purity law from 1516 applies, which works so well and sustainably because it trusts in nature. That’s what we do too: “dat delicious Dröppke” is made from water, barley, wheat malt and Uerige yeast.
On January 1, 1976, Christa and Josef Schnitzler took over the Uerige. Anyone who walks through the brewery takes a journey through time: from the rebuilt main building, where it all began in 1862, through the extension buildings Neweaan and Brauhaus to Stickum. The houses, which are connected to each other on several levels, are winding, the paths meander from the cellars to the attics - and the architectural language and technical equipment also change. “Whoever Baas was built in the style of his time,” says son Michael Schnitzler.
On December 24th and 31.12. until 2 p.m., December 25th. and Shrove Monday are days off. Brewery tours possible with advance reservation.
